The Book Brouhaha blog, as well as having an excellent name, has posted some interesting things about the short story form recently; I've added my 2p worth to a few of the posts. One comment I made on a discussion about how short stories seemed somewhat undervalued was "Would 'The Lottery' by Shirley Jackson be six times better if it was six times the length?" and interestingly the host of the blog, Alain, has used this quote as inspiration for a whole new posting - see here: Book Brouhaha.
Interesting stuff; if you like short stories and/or Shirley Jackson, check it out and make some comments. I will. And if you haven't read The Lottery, do it. Do it now.
